Welcome back to AZE book lovers!
Today, I'll be giving you a couple of tips on how to get out of a reading slump! Reading should never feel like an obligation, so if you're not in the mood for it, don't force it! However, there are times when many of us find ourselves stuck in a slump we want to get out of badly. These tips will help you get right back on track!
Look for high rated novels in your favorite genre
By doing this, you'll ensure the best chances of finding a book you'll be genuinely into and excited about. I usually recommend picking up a thriller or mystery because novels in these categories are usually fast paced page-turners. There's nothing like a quick, fresh, and fun novel to get you back in the groove! However, if you'd prefer other genres (contemporary, romance, fantasy) look for high rated novels that fall into these categories! Although the reading experience is subjective, you'll have much better chances of devouring a novel that has great reviews. Goodreads is a great site to check out if you're doing research on your next read!
Look for novels written by your favorite authors or novels recommended by them
If you're having trouble finding a book that you're eager to read or have been stuck in a bad book streak, pick up a piece written by one of your favorite authors. Because you're familiar with their writing style, you're very likely to fly through the novel! If your favorite writers haven't come out with anything new lately, look for books they've recommended. If you really enjoy their works, it's likely that you'll like what they vouch for!
Try a buddy read
Do you know any people who are keen on your favorite books, authors, or genres? If so, try proposing a buddy read! Having a partner encourages you to stay on track and helps provoke discussion. Discussing different elements, characters, or thoughts with others is a great way to stay enthusiastic about the novel you're reading. You'll be done in no time!
Choose a novel recommended by a trusted peer
If you have friends who's recommendations you trust, try asking them for a suggestion! This includes people who's reviews and ratings of various books match yours. If you can't find anything that seems exciting, they might propose something that entices you!
